DO I USE THE GOGI WEBSITE, THE GOGI MOBILE APPS OR BOTH?
Our mobile applications– Tee to Green Pro and Swing Pro – complement and synchronize with the GOGI website to ensure your information is always up to date.
Tee to Green Pro provides you the ability to:
- Track scores and stats
- Access easy to absorb on-course golf tips for all the key golf shots
- Download and review high definition golf instructional videos at your leisure
- Capture and upload your golf photos to your GOGI website profile
Swing Pro provides you the ability to:
- Record, analyze, share and compare your golf swing
- Download and review high definition golf instructional and fitness videos at your leisure
- Capture and upload your golf videos straight to your GOGI website profile
We encourage you to download our mobile apps when available so you have GOGI with you on the go. You can download world-class golf instruction from the GOGI Learning Center directly to your phone and review lessons at your leisure. You can also enter stats, take photos and record your swing, all of which can be uploaded and synchronized with your GOGI website account.
I AM REGISTERED AS AN AMATEUR GOLFER ON GOGI. WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Once you have created your initial account, we strongly recommend that you fill out the rest of your profile to get the most out of GOGI and more easily connect with GOGI members.
You can add more information to your profile by simply clicking your picture and clicking “Edit” next to “My Profile.” Alternatively, you click the down arrow next to your name at the top of the screen and select “EDIT PROFILE.” From there, you can choose to upload your profile photo and even upload a banner (such as your favorite course, golf landscape, or any other unique cover picture).
Fill out as much information about yourself that you feel comfortable sharing to help your fellow golfers find you and know more about you. Whatever you want to share, it is up to you. You can enter your education, work experience, gear and other interests (favorite courses, hobbies, etc.).
WHAT DOES “EDIT ACCOUNT” DO?
“Edit Account” is different from “Edit Profile” because it is private to you and enables GOGI to customize your experience. By selecting “Edit Account” you can change your password, specify your current playing ability and goals and identify improvement areas.
This information is not shared publically and is used by GOGI to recommend Learning Center videos based on your needs as well as recommend golf professionals and fellow amateur golfers with similar playing abilities and goals.
IS MY PROFILE AND GOGI ACTIVITY PRIVATE OR PUBLIC?
By default, your GOGI profile is “public.” However, you can easily change your profile settings and designate any or all GOGI activity as viewable by “friends,” “friends of friends,” “group members” “pros” and/or “private.” For example, you can designate your photos and videos as viewable by anyone on GOGI (“public”), your events as viewable by “friends only” and your golf stats as “private.” The choice is yours.
To view and edit your privacy settings, select the down arrow next to your name at the top of the screen and select “Change Permissions.”
DOES GOGI HAVE PRIVACY SETTINGS FOR MY ACCOUNT AND CONTENT?
Yes. With GOGI, you can specify exactly which GOGI members and groups can see your personal information.
To view and edit your privacy settings, select the down arrow next to your name at the top of the screen and select “Change Permissions.”
On this page, you can enable or disable your “Match Me” preference (i.e., if you would like other GOGI members with similar golfing ability and goals to see your profile).
You can also designate which GOGI members can see your personal content (photos, videos, stats, groups you belong to, friends list, etc.). For example, you can enable your GOGI friends to see your photos and videos and friends list, but mark your stats as “private.”
Though we encourage you to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing to make it easier for your friends to find you on GOGI, the choice of what you share to whom is completely yours.
WHAT IS “MY CADDY?”
“My Caddy” is a quick summary of your GOGI activity and pertinent information. You can quickly glance at upcoming events on your calendar (practice sessions, rounds, tournaments) and take action on invitations from groups and fellow golfers.
You can also see a summary of your last round played, golf stats, recommended lessons (based on account information provided) and photos and videos where you have been “tagged.”
HOW DO I UPLOAD MY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO GOGI?
GOGI provides two ways to upload photos and videos to your profile.
The first way is to login to your website account, go to the “Photos | Videos” section, click “Upload New Photos” or “Upload New Videos” and upload the video or photo directly from your computer. Please note there is a 50MB limit on each individual video.
The second way is to download our mobile apps– Tee to Green Pro and Swing Pro – and use the photo and video features of the apps to capture your photos and videos and upload them directly from your phone to your GOGI website account. The photos and videos will also be stored on your phone.
Please note that our mobile applications for the iPhone will be available in the fall, 2012 with Android versions shortly afterward.
WHAT IS “TAGGING?”
“Tagging” is a quick way to link friends to your photos and videos. For example, if you take a group photo with Bob, Ken and Sarah and they are your GOGI friends, you can upload the photo to your GOGI profile, access the photo and “tag” the photo to Bob, Ken and Sarah. They will be notified they have been “tagged” and the photo will display in their own profile under “tagged photos.” You can do the same for videos.
HOW DO I CAPTURE AND TRACK MY GOLF STATS USING THE GOGI WEBSITE?
The GOGI website is one of two ways you can capture and track your round stats (the other way is to use our free “Tee to Green Pro” App – see below). To use the GOGI website to enter your stats after your round, login to your website account, go to the “Stats” section and click “Add New Scorecard.” From there, select “Number of Holes Played” (18 or 9), search and select your course, and the tee location. Click “Next.”
Enter in the date of your round and enter in the information you want to track. At a minimum, you can enter in your score data. By default, GOGI will calculate an “estimated handicap” and “net score” for you based on score data only (Note: Handicaps will not be accurate until five scores have been entered). Please see the section for “Manage Handicap Settings” below to adjust your default handicap settings.
To really get the most out of your game and pinpoint improvement areas, we recommend you track additional stats during your round such as number of putts, Tee Club used, Fairway Performance (hit, left, right, short, long), Sand Saves and Penalty Strokes. You can enter data for any or none of these stats. The choice is yours.
HOW DO I CAPTURE AND TRACK MY GOLF STATS USING THE TEE TO GREEN PRO APP?
Whereas you can use the GOGI website to enter in your scores and stats after your round, you can use our free “Tee to Green Pro” mobile app to enter your scores and stats during your round. Simply open the app, find your course, enter in your stats and save your round. Your round will automatically upload and store to your GOGI website account.
Please note that our mobile applications for the iPhone will be available in the fall, 2012 with Android versions shortly afterward. Based on the data you enter, GOGI will track your stats and aggregate your performance over time. Other than professional golf instruction, this is the quickest way to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, focus your practice time and accelerate your development.
HOW DO I USE THE “MANAGE HANDICAP” SETTINGS IF I DON’T HAVE A HANDICAP?
By default, GOGI provides an estimated “handicap index” based on the data entered and required number of scorecards (five scorecards or more). This is automated for you through the setting “Auto Handicap” which is defaulted to “On.” Until you enter at least five scores, GOGI will assume your handicap index is 36.4 for male golfers and 40.4 for female golfers. However, this number will adjust to provide a more accurate estimate of your handicap index as you enter in actual golf scores.
Also by default, GOGI sets “Apply Handicap” to “On.” This setting is used to automatically subtract the appropriate number of strokes from your gross score arriving at your net score. Ultimately, a golfer’s net score is used to help “level the playing field” among golfers with different handicaps playing courses of varying difficulty.
HOW DO I USE THE “MANAGE HANDICAP” SETTINGS IF I ALREADY HAVE A HANDICAP?
If you already have a handicap index, you can enter it in the “Handicap” field by first turning “Auto Handicap” to “Off” then entering in your handicap. If you leave “Auto Handicap” to “Off” then you can manually update your handicap as needed. If turn “Auto Handicap” back to “On” (after manually entering your handicap index), your net scores will be based on the handicap index you entered until you record five or more scorecards at which time your handicap index (and subsequent net scores) will update automatically.
ARE THE HANDICAPS GOGI PROVIDES OFFICIAL?
GOGI only provides estimated handicaps which are not official, not validated and cannot be used in official golf tournaments.
WHAT IS THE “LEARNING CENTER?” HOW DO I USE IT?
One of the biggest benefits of being a GOGI member is access to world-class golf instruction and fitness exercises by world-renowned professional golf instructors Todd Anderson and Randy Myers. There are 140 video lessons currently available in the Learning Center. We will add quite a few more over time. These are the same lessons provided to the more than 70 PGA, Nationwide, Champions and LPGA Tour professionals that Todd and Randy have coached.
To get the most out of the GOGI Learning Center, we encourage you to first edit your account settings and identify your most pertinent game improvement areas in the “What I Would Like to Improve” section. Based on your input in this section, GOGI will automatically recommend a range of video lessons to meet your needs. A select few of these recommendations will display on your “My Caddy” page and the complete list of recommendations will display in the “My Lessons” section of the Learning Center.
Simply click the lesson to view it and use the video functionality to enhance your viewing experience. You can also add videos as “Favorites” for easy access or “share” the video with your friends on GOGI.
Once you have viewed a video lesson, it is moved to the “Viewed Lessons” section of the Learning Center.
If you wish, you can access the full range of video lessons under the “All Lessons” tab. In this section, all 140 video lessons are logically categorized under “Basics,” “Swing Library,” “Practice Drills,” “Golf Fitness,” and “Pro Insights.”
HOW DO I INVITE FRIENDS TO JOIN GOGI?
To invite your friends to join GOGI, simply go to the “Friends” section of the GOGI website and click “Invite Friends.” From there, enter in your friends’ emails, separated by a comma with no spaces between the comma and the next email address. Then type a message to your friends to join the GOGI site and click send.
Once your friends have joined the site, they can search for you and vice versa via the search bar at the top of the site and request a friendship. Once the friendship is confirmed, you are now connected to form groups, schedule events and share videos and photos.
HOW DO I BEFRIEND GOGI MEMBERS?
There are four primary ways to become friends with GOGI members.
- SEARCH BAR: The fastest way is to search for a GOGI member using the search bar at the top of the website. Simply enter a friend’s name, click on his or her profile and click Request Friendship.
- “PEOPLE YOU MAY KNOW”: Once you have made a few friends, you can find additional people to befriend by going to the “Friends” page and looking at “People You May Know” on the right of the Friends page. These are GOGI members that are friends of your friends. Simply click on their profile and Request Friendship.
- GROUPS: If you join a group, you can Request Friendship with other group members.
- MATCH ME: If you filled out the “My Playing Ability and Goals” section of your Account, you can quickly find other GOGI members with similar playing ability and goals by clicking “Match Me.” If you wish, you can further filter these results (by zip code, courses played, etc.).
HOW DO I INTERACT WITH MY FRIENDS ON GOGI?
GOGI offers a number of interactive features for you and your friends including:
- Messaging: send and receive personal messages and add other friends to the conversation.
- Photo and Video Sharing: through “tagging,” you can link your friends to your photos and videos. Your friends can also add comments to your photos and videos. You can also post a link to your photos and videos to your Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts.
- Please note that you must turn off your website pop-up blocker in order to post to these accounts (please see below).
- Groups: you can form personal groups (playing, practice, social, etc.) and invite your friends to join where you can share group photos and videos, engage in group conversations and schedule group events.
- Stats: you can share your stats with your GOGI friends and also post a link to your scorecard to your Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts.
- Events: with GOGI, you can schedule events (round, lesson, social, etc.) and invite your friends and groups
WHAT ARE “LIMITED FRIENDS?”
“Limited Friends” are friends you select to have limited access to your content (photos and videos, stats, groups, etc.). For example, you may want to share all your photos and videos with your “Friends,” but not with your Limited Friends. To customize your privacy settings, simply click on your picture, then click “Edit” next to “My Profile.” From there, click on the “Change Permissions” tab and customize your privacy settings for each of the GOGI member types.
I CANNOT GET THE FACEBOOK, TWITTER OR GOOGLE+ LINKS TO WORK!
That is likely due to your browser not allowing “pop-ups” in your browser settings, which is a security feature of these browsers. Please consult your browser’s “help” section to learn how to turn off the “pop-up blocker” for the GOGI website. Once turned off for the GOGI website, you should be able to post links to your photos and videos, the GOGI pro library and your scorecards to your various social media accounts.
I WOULD LIKE TO FORM A GOGI GROUP FOR MY WEEKLY FOURSOME. HOW DO I DO THIS?
From the “Groups” section of the GOGI website, select “Create Group.” From there, select “Personal” as the group type and fill out the criteria that helps define your group.
You can also set “permissions” for your group and indicate if your group is private or public. You can also customize your settings. Invite your GOGI friends to your group, click “Submit” and you are good to go.
Once your group is formed, you can designate specific group members as “administrators” who can edit your group settings and schedule group events. All group members can upload photos and videos to your group page.
I RUN A GOLF ASSOCIATION WITH HUNDREDS OF MEMBERS. CAN I FORM A GROUP ON GOGI?
Absolutely. “Organizational” groups work similarly as “Personal” groups. Simply click on “Create Group” from the GOGI Groups page and select “Organization” as your group type. Fill out the other pertinent data and invite GOGI members to join your group.
Similar to “Personal” groups, you can designate specific group members as “administrators” who can edit your group settings and schedule group events. All group members can upload photos and videos to your group page.
You can set “permissions” for your organizational group and indicate if your group is private or public. You can also customize your settings and allow specific information to be viewable by specific audiences.
For instance, if you are a public golf course, you can form an “open” group that anyone can request to join. As an administrator of that group, you can accept new group members individually or “Select All” to accept all new membership requests.
If you are a private club, you can set your permissions to “Group Members” only whereby your group’s membership, events, photos, videos and other information is only viewable by group members.
WHAT ARE “EVENTS?” HOW DO I CREATE AN EVENT?
“Events” are activities you can schedule with your GOGI connections and include golf rounds, lessons, social get-togethers and practice sessions.
With GOGI calendaring tools, you can schedule personal, friend and group events, review and coordinate calendars and share event-specific comments.
To get started, click “Add Event” and invite your GOGI connections.
WHAT IS “MATCH ME?”
“Match Me” is a unique feature of GOGI where you can easily find and connect with other golfers of similar playing ability and goals as you as well as find groups and golf professionals that meet your needs.
To enable Match Me, complete the "My Playing Ability and Goals" section of your account and ensure that "Match Me" is enabled in your account permissions.
Then, go to the Match Me section and use the filtering criteria to refine your search. Click on the picture of the amateur golfer, golf professional or group that you want to connect with and away you go.
I AM A PROFESSIONAL GOLF INSTRUCTOR. HOW DO I USE GOGI?
We believe strongly that amateur golfers greatly accelerate their development by getting professional instruction. The challenge is finding the right instructor with the right approach at the right time and having the right tools to facilitate the instructor/student relationship. GOGI makes this process more efficient.
On the GOGI website, the golf professional can develop a profile and highlight his or her profile with key biographical data – location, course, contact information, teaching approach, specialties, etc. The golf professional can then use GOGI as a communication vehicle for existing students or as a way to connect with new students. For instance, a golf instructor can have his or her students join GOGI and “friend” the instructor. The instructor can then designate specific friends as “students” within the GOGI system. From that point forward, the instructor now has a central connection with students to share photos, stats and swing videos, provide online feedback, schedule events and lessons and give continuous education beyond the course.
Using our free mobile applications, the professional golf instructor can also capture and upload students’ swings, photos and lesson notes and simply route them to students.
